Newark TPMS / Questions

TPMS questions answered

How much does TPMS sensor replacement cost in Newark?

£75 for one, £140 for two, £200 for three and £240 for four sensors, with the sensor, fitting and programming included. Diagnosis is £25.

What is included in the price?

Everything: the sensor, fitting and programming. A few cars need a specialist sensor that costs more, and we tell you before any work starts.

Can I drive with the TPMS light on?

Check your tyre pressures as soon as you can. If a low tyre caused the light, it should go out once the pressures are right. If it stays on, get it checked rather than ignoring it.

Will a TPMS fault fail my MOT?

For cars first used on or after 1 January 2012, a TPMS that is malfunctioning or obviously not working is a major defect, so the car fails.

How long do TPMS sensors last?

Usually several years. The battery is sealed inside most sensors, so when it runs flat the sensor is replaced.

Why is the light on after I changed to winter wheels?

The sensors in the other set of wheels may not be set up in the car, or those wheels may have no sensors. The car and sensors need matching again.

Do all cars have TPMS sensors in the wheels?

No. Some cars use the ABS wheel speed sensors to estimate pressure and have nothing inside the wheel. Those cars need a reset, not new sensors.
